SS Retail IPO Explodes: 103x Subscription as Investors Rush In!

SS Retail IPO Explodes: The SS Retail IPO has grabbed massive attention in the Indian primary market, ending its final day with an overall subscription of an eye-catching 103.30 times.

According to stock-exchange data reported on September 18, 2026, investors placed bids for approximately 90.84 crore shares, compared with about 87.94 lakh shares available in the offer.

🚀 Institutional Investors Lead the Rush

The biggest demand came from institutional investors.

The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) portion was subscribed around 203.61 times, while Non-Institutional Investors (NII/HNI) subscribed about 143.32 times.

Retail investors weren’t sitting on the sidelines either—the retail category was subscribed approximately 36.36 times.

These numbers show just how much bidding interest the IPO generated across multiple investor categories.

💰 ₹500 Crore IPO: Key Numbers

SS Retail’s IPO is worth approximately ₹500 crore, comprising a fresh issue of around ₹360 crore and an Offer for Sale (OFS) of approximately ₹140 crore.

The IPO price band was fixed at ₹403–₹424 per share, with investors able to apply in lots of 35 shares. At the upper price of ₹424, one lot represents an investment of ₹14,840.

📱 What Does SS Retail Actually Do?

SS Retail operates a multi-brand retail network selling smartphones and other electronics.

Its portfolio includes mobile phones, pre-owned smartphones, accessories, televisions, laptops and tablets, alongside services such as EMI facilities, mobile protection plans, anti-theft software and recharge services.

The company operates through brands including SS Mobile, Mobile Exchange Wala and The Mobile Space, using company-owned and franchise-based formats.

📈 Business Growth Looks Strong

The company’s recent financial performance is another reason investors may be watching the issue closely.

For FY26, SS Retail reported total income of about ₹2,352.85 crore, compared with ₹1,599.96 crore in FY25.

Profit after tax increased to approximately ₹59.28 crore, from ₹39.86 crore in the previous year.

That’s roughly 47% growth in revenue and 49% growth in profit after tax year-on-year.

🏪 Where Will the IPO Money Go?

Expansion is a major part of the company’s plans.

SS Retail intends to use a portion of the fresh-issue proceeds for opening new stores, while around ₹241.35 crore is earmarked for incremental working-capital requirements. The remaining proceeds are intended for general corporate purposes.

The company has also outlined an aggressive store-expansion strategy for FY27 and FY28.

🔥 Grey Market Premium Adds More Buzz

The unofficial grey market has added another layer of excitement.

As of the evening of September 18, NDTV Profit reported a Grey Market Premium (GMP) of ₹144 per share. Against the upper IPO price of ₹424, that implied an unofficial indicated price of roughly ₹568, or about 34% above the upper issue price.

But here’s the important part: GMP is unofficial and can change rapidly. It does not guarantee the actual listing price or investor returns.

📅 What Happens Next?

The IPO closed for subscription on September 18, 2026. The allotment is expected to be finalised on September 21, while SS Retail shares are scheduled to list on the BSE and NSE on September 23, 2026.

With a 103.30x overall subscription, 203.61x QIB demand, and significant grey-market activity, SS Retail has become one of the IPOs attracting major market attention this week.

Now all eyes turn toward allotment and listing day.
