EPFO Announces Temporary Shutdown of Online Claim Processing Portal for System Upgrade

EPFO : The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued an official notice confirming a temporary shutdown of its online claim processing services. Members will not be able to access key digital PF services for three days due to a major system upgrade.

📅 Shutdown Period:

  • From 12:00 AM, June 26, 2026
  • To 11:59 PM, June 28, 2026
  • Services resume from 12:00 AM, June 29, 2026

⚙️ Why is EPFO shutting down the portal?

EPFO is carrying out a major database consolidation and system upgrade to improve performance and security.

According to the organisation, this planned migration will:

  • 🔐 Strengthen system security
  • ⚡ Improve processing speed
  • 📊 Enhance service reliability
  • 💻 Upgrade backend software applications

This is part of EPFO’s effort to modernize its digital infrastructure for smoother member services in the future.

❌ Which EPFO services will be affected?

During the shutdown period, several important services will remain unavailable, including:

  • 🧾 Online PF claim submission
  • 🔄 Claim processing (including pending claims)
  • 📘 e-Passbook access
  • 📤 ECR filing services
  • 🔗 UAN linking and related updates

👉 Even claims submitted before June 26 will not be processed during this period. Processing will resume only after the portal becomes active on June 29, 2026.

⚠️ Impact on PF account holders

PF members should be aware that:

  • 🚫 New claims cannot be submitted during the shutdown
  • ⏳ Pending claims will be temporarily paused
  • 💸 Emergency withdrawals or transfers will not be processed
  • 📅 All services will restart after June 29

Members planning urgent withdrawals are advised to complete transactions before the downtime begins.

🚀 Big update: UPI & ATM PF withdrawals coming soon

The shutdown comes ahead of a major digital upgrade planned by EPFO.

Soon, EPFO is expected to introduce:

  • 💳 PF withdrawals via UPI
  • 🏧 ATM-based PF withdrawals
  • 📱 A new integrated mobile system

💡 How will UPI and ATM PF withdrawal work?

Currently, PF withdrawals require logging into the UAN portal and completing multiple steps. After the upgrade:

  • 📲 Users may withdraw PF via a dedicated EPFO app
  • 🔗 The system will be linked directly to bank accounts
  • ⚡ Funds transfer will be faster and simpler
  • 💰 Users may be able to withdraw up to 75% of PF balance instantly

This aims to make PF access as easy as everyday digital payments.

📌 Final Takeaway

The EPFO system upgrade may cause temporary inconvenience, but it is expected to bring faster, safer, and more modern PF services in the long run.

📅 Remember: June 26–28, 2026 – EPFO online claim services will remain unavailable
